This term we have been learning about bees and the important part they play in pollinating plants. We have learnt about the challenges bees face and how difficult life has become for them as a result of habitat loss, climate change, toxic pesticides and disease.

Many people are trying to help bees. To help us understand ways in which we can all help, Mr Short brought one of his bee hives into school to show us how bees live and the conditions they need to thrive.

We have planted a ‘bee friendly garden’ to help local bees. Local councils are also helping by leaving wild flowers on verges and roundabouts. What could you do to help our bee population?
