Nunney & District Flower Show was held on the school playing field on Saturday 3 September 2016 as part of the 120th anniversary celebrations for Nunney First School. Despite torrential rain there was a very good turnout, with a large number of entries in all classes. We were extremely grateful to Mrs Yeoman and the surrounding quarry companies for arranging the big marquee to provide much needed shelter. The Garden Design competition was a tribute to British fortitude with both families working steadily despite the downpour and finishing two great gardens.
Thanks are due to Viridor for their kind donation of 4 tonnes of compost which will be used in the Mucky Pups areas; and to Barters Plants for supplying such a wonderful variety of plants and trees at very attractive prices – all sold after the show.
Nunney Showcase on the following day attracted a lot of interest. It was a great way of showing off the skills and hobbies we have in the village, and of course, just the talents of our pupils.
Grateful thanks to the Nunney & District Flower Show, to our Mucky Pups volunteers, to our support staff for providing delicious refreshments on both days – and to the public for braving the weather.
