As is the tradition of all great sporting events, the Nunney Sports Day commenced with a parade around the field to the music of ‘Chariots of Fire’ followed by a warm-up led by our football team coached by Mrs Andrews. With a very topical football theme, we are confident everyone can guess the music!

This year, competing for the sports trophy 2021 were the red, yellow, blue and green teams.  Following the tradition of Nunney School, the first race was the Nunney Mile.  Completing a grueling 10 laps around the field, our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils were amazing and impressed everyone with their stamina and determination to complete the race. Not just running for the Nunney Mile Trophy, the winners each year also have their name added to the board in the hall so their sporting achievement is recognised in years to come.

Next came the team events. Lots of fun to be had with a wide range of challenges ~ basketball, archery, hurdles, water, relay and of course that all important obstacle course!

After lunch, what a noise as we all cheered on the competitors in the more traditional individual races!  A huge thank you to Rufus, Paddy and Finley who were great at organising all the equipment and helping our youngest children enjoy the races.

Congratulations everyone!  You were amazing!

And… well done to Red Team ~ champions of 2021.

A well deserved ice-lolly for everyone.

What an amazing Sports Day 2021.
